Goodie Two Shoes -- Where Does it Get You?

Chances are if you're overly nice to everyone, you're scratching your head wondering why people don't respect you. Why doesn't your family appreciate you? Why do your friends not give back in measure what you feel you have given them? In extreme cases, you might wonder why in the world you've given away your services and your energy when nothing is coming back.

If you're experiencing any of the above, look to self love. Or to be blunt, self loathing. If you don't respect and care for yourself, no amount of caring for others and always going the extra mile is going to do the trick. One would think that after all these years of self-help books, of inspirational thinkers coming and going from the new age pike, that we'd get the message. But still we've given our power away -- we read the books, toss them aside and go back to our old codependent ways. We wallow in self pity, cry in our beer and take refuge in the same old cliches. We live in the past, look for people to support us in our misery, keep on attracting the same old experiences and our frequency never changes.

We struggle over what foods to eat, we become allergic to everything including Life itself. And in the process we make other people miserable by trying to convert our family members and friends to eat the way we do even though our digestive systems are messed up from too much worry about how our bodies aren't functioning.

There's a fine line between caring for ourselves and caring for others. Sometimes volunteering is a way to find our way out of the mire because it allows us to think less about ourselves and more about others. But when we ignore ourselves at the expense of others' welfare, we create a recipe for disaster. Starting at either end of the pendulum creates an imbalance. We have to start in the middle -- from ground zero, from the core that is ourselves.

If you're having digestive problems, don't blame it on foods. Look to the reason foods are causing you to react so. There's always a belief or emotional component behind the presentation of illness. And yes, there will be those who say "Well, what about Lyme?" Lyme is no exception. Who with Lyme symptoms is not in limbo? The reason one is in limbo is different for each person. If you stay in that frequency, you will attract the viruses, the bacteria, the parasites that match your thoughts. It takes courage to move out of that mindset, courage that most people do not want to find because there is a pay off for being sick, for staying stuck -- and to find out the reason requires courage. Courage equates to self love. Do we love ourselves enough to give up the story that has kept us stuck or do we keep throwing money at drugs and therapies that keep us in the street mime's prison?
